I was just looking at my Peace Calender put out by the Syracuse Cultural Workers and the month of November is a "upside down" map of the world. The caption on the bottom is "Who Said "north" was "up"? History is definitely a weapon. It is hard for me to imagine, as much as I try to decolonize my knowledges, growing up with a map that looked like the one on my wall right now. South Africa is at the top and it is still South. The history that gets called common knowledge leaves so many people out and disallows so many to exercise their humanness.
